Sopilka Telinka (Tilinka) (Re, maple)
Sopilka Telinka (Tilinka) (Re, maple)
Telinka (Tilinka) is a type of sopilka without traditional finger holes. The instrument has only two holes, so the difference in notes is produced by the force of the musician's breath and the pressure of the finger on the hole to let the air out. The calf is made of maple wood with a base tone of Re.
Telinka (Tilinka) is considered one of the oldest wind instruments, and its predecessors were tubular bones, reed, bamboo or clay pipes. Traditionally, such an instrument was played by sheep breeders, grazing sheep. They made their own calves, because it was much easier than making a chromatic nozzle.
Outside the Telinka (Tilinka) is a cylindrical tube 500-650 mm long. (depending on which note the instrument is tuned to) and is made from special resonant wood. In an open calf, the upper end of the tube is pointed. The musician presses the calf to his lips and, holding it obliquely, blows air at an angle so that the air jet is cut against the sharp edge of the barrel wall. The Telinka (Tilinka) scale is built on overtones.
Traditions in a modern format
Full-cycle production is one of the main advantages of our sawmills: selected wood (unprocessed) is obtained, and all subsequent stages of production are carried out exclusively under the supervision of professionals. For blanks, a whole tree of beech, hornbeam, pear, maple, cherry is used, which provides warm and deep sound shades. All wood goes through the "Mill-Podolsky" processing technology and dries for at least 5 years. The peculiarity of Melnitsa-Podilsky processing is a special technology of wood pulping in a special natural solution, the secret of which is passed down from generation to generation in a close circle of Frankish craftsmen. Pischik has an additional coating to protect against moisture, because it is this element of the flute that is most vulnerable to swelling. The chromatic flute is meticulously sanded and covered with an ultra-thin layer of ecological varnish based on the resins of coniferous trees, which ensures excellent resonance.
In 2019, a new page in history was opened in Ukraine and its own production of folk musical instruments began. Today, the company is reviving the production of flutes, banduras and other folk instruments, combining the traditions and secrets of the production of the Melnitsa-Podolsky factory and modern technologies with innovative solutions.
