The McCarty 594 plays smoothly, intones across the length of the neck, and feels like a guitar you've been playing forever. Whether you're looking for rich, authentic humbucker tones or the subtle, sweet sounds of a single, the McCarty 594 can easily navigate both sonic territories thanks to its 58/15 LT pickups, which have now gone through the TCI (tuned capacitance and inductance) process, as well as dual tone controls. A two piece zinc bridge and vintage style pegs complete this guitar and stay true to the McCarthy family promise.

“One of my sayings is that everything about the string is God - well, it's really the bridge, the fretboard and the pegs. Updates to the McCarthy line change their tone a lot. The guitar sounds longer and the tone is more distinctive,” said Paul Reed Smith.

In the late 1980s, Paul Reed Smith invited Ted McCarthy to consult with him on guitar design and manufacturing techniques. Not only was he a mentor, he became a great friend to Paul and everyone he met at PRS. In 1994, PRS released the first McCarty, an instrument that incorporated the full range of techniques and knowledge Paul had learned from Ted, as well as his own guitar making experience.
